Kate MacDonald



Kate MacDonald has been working as a freelance archaeological consultant in the Uists since 2006. Kate has provided the archaeological expertise for a number of projects with the local archaeology community group including the rescue excavation of an eroding Iron Age settlement, where the local community worked alongside professional archaeologists.

She has recently submitted a doctoral thesis to the University of Sheffield. This research focused on understanding the development of domestic architecture in north-west Scotland during the Iron Age.

Kate has established a successful programme of community education classes in the archaeology of the Western Isles, as well as regularly delivering public lectures and tours during the summer.
